Q: What is a door spindle?
A:The spindle is a straight metal (often steel) bar that connects the pair of lever handles on both sides of the door.
Q: How do I fit the spindle and how does it work?
A: You connect the spindle to the holes found in the back of the door handles, through the tubular latch or mortice lock fitted in the door. This connection means when the handle is pressed down, the spindle spins and operates the latch and opens the door.
Q: What type of spindles are there?
A: Different handles can use different types of spindles. Lever on rose and lever on backplate handles primarily use plain, slotted or heso spindles. Rim door furniture usually requires a threaded spindle. If only one handle is being fitted (not a pair), you can use a dummy spindle.
Q: What size do I need?
A: 8mm diameter are the most common standard spindle size and as a result UK locks have a follower size of 8mm as standard.
Please note all dimensions are subject to a +/- 3mm tolerance

LENGTH OF THE SLOT: 23mm (both ends)
