Questions & Answers

can I fit an FD30 or FD60 mortice deadlock to this fire door?

Yes, you can fit locks into either side of this door, depending on your prefence.

Can i take 2” off the top?

These doors can not be trimmed beyond 3mm on any given edge. Going over the trimming tolerance will void the warranty, and can potentially compromise the structural integrity of the doors

Is it possible to get a cupboard size door 1.83 x x 61 x 33 similar oak colour to match this door ? Thanks

The smallest size is the NON fire door, 24" x 78" (610mm x 1981mm)

Hi, These doors would be to replace doors on the first floor after we've added a second floor. Do we need intumescent strips in the doors and do these doors come with those?

We recommend intumescent strips and excluders to complete a fire door arrangement. The strips can be added to the door or in a recess within a frame. There is a range available on our site but these are sold separately.

Can the door be trimmed?

Accurate trimming information can only be provided by the manufacturer on a case-by-case basis. In the case of this door, no more than 3mm from each side. Traditional, solid wood fire doors used to be tolerant of significant material removal, however, modern fire door design uses lightweight materials with higher fire resistance at the edges of the door and lesser resistance within the core, so removing the high resistance edges (eg lippings) seriously impacts on the fire resistance of fire doors. Trimming too much material from a fire door will result in a loss of integrity as the core materials may have been compromised. This means that the fire door’s test certificate may be void because the door has been altered outside the scope of its certification and its performance may be affected, rendering the door illegal.

What should I finish these with?

The manufacturer's finishing guidelines are as follows: Internal Joinery Products taken out of their packaging, must be fully decorated straight away. Pre-finished doors however, come already finished and ready to hang. If the door edges are trimmed, they will need finishing with a polyurethane varnish. Oak timber doors can be decorated with paint, stain, varnish or lacquer. White primed timber doors can be decorated with any good quality paint suited to your property.LPD internal joinery is NOT suitable for waxes, polishes, dyes and oils etc. Please refer to manufacturer’s instructions.
