Q-Mark Fire Doors
Q-Mark fire doors are tested and approved by the BM TRADA Q-Mark Fire Door Scheme, which assures quality and safety on fire doors to a highly certified level. This system ensures the optimum safety testing and tracability, giving you peace of mind when it comes to choosing a new fire door. These doors are either approved to an FD30 or FD60 standard, and have passed the relevant fire door manufacture scheme in order to deem them fit for use and protect against fire and smoke for either 30 or 60 minutes as stated.
Tests carried out under this scheme include fire resistance tests including either BS 476 Part 22 or EN 1634-1. It also includes a yearly audit whereby the manufacturer is evaluated on the consistency in standards of production for the tested fire doors. All of these checks are to reassure and provide you with the utmost confidence that your door will perform as it should in the case of a real-life fire. If your door is marked FD30, it will provide a minimum resistance of 30 minutes against fire and smoke, and FD60 will protect for 60 minutes.
As of September 2029, the UK Government has put new standards in place, whereby fire doors must be classified under the European standard EN 13501‑2. The BM TRADA Q-Mark Fire Door Scheme ensures that the fire door meets this standard, meaning any doors under the Q-Mark classification will be compatible with future building requirements.
