What is Mortise & Tenon

Mortise and Tenon is a type of construction joint that is made up of two parts. It is used to connect two pieces of wood, the tenon is the peg, and the mortise is the slot in which the tenon is inserted into. Mortise and Tenon constructed doors are one of the strongest type of joints and are ideal for exposed environments and can last longer without having to be regularly treated.

The mortise and tenon is a traditional joint and is popular due to its strength. this is one of the most common joints used by woodworkers and is the traditional corner joint for sturdy frames. Supplied unfinished It is recommended that any external hardwood door must be protected from exposure to direct sun and rain. This is usually achieved by a porch, recess or overhang of a minimum of 1.5 metres. If this precaution is not observed, the performance and appearance of the door will not be satisfactory.

LPD external doors are manufactured using engineered component parts, all with a view to providing a product that offers a solid feel, but with the advantages that engineering brings in terms of greater strength and stability.
Engineered doors are faced with veneers and matching lippings.

Can I order this without the glazing and if so what would the price be?

Answer:

Unfortunately we cannot get this door without glazing, this does come preglazed from the factory.

Question:

How much can be trimmed off each side

Answer:

This door can be trimmed 6mm on each vertical edge. There is no trimming allowance on the top and bottom of this door.

Question:

Is the trim allowance on the sides 6mm on each side or on one side only. I have an opening of 830 mm.

Answer:

The trimming tolerance on this door is 6mm on each long edge, so 12mm in total.

Question:

Can this door be cut down to 2000 in height

Answer:

We would advise against trimming these Doors down to 2000mm, as this would be beyond their recommend trimming tolerance and would void the warranty with the manufacturers

Can this door be painted?

Answer:

This door requires finishing so can be primed and painted
